How the visit works
Safety guidance (always)
We’ll review what to watch for—such as increased redness, warmth, swelling, drainage changes, odor, fever, or rising pain—and when to contact your provider or seek urgent care.
Every consultation follows a simple, structured flow so you know exactly what to expect. We start with a brief intake to confirm your goals, history, and current products, then the RN reviews wound status, dressings, fit/securement, and off-loading. From there, we teach and practice the routine step-by-step (including a return demonstration when appropriate). If active provider orders are on file, we can model an assisted dressing change to reinforce correct technique.
During the visit
We’ll clarify your priorities and questions, examine the wound area and dressings, and assess how everything is secured and off-loaded. Then we’ll walk you through the care steps in plain language, demonstrating each one and having you (or your caregiver) practice until it feels comfortable and safe.
After the visit
You’ll leave with two clear handouts: a daily care checklist and a provider discussion list (what to ask about supplies, frequency, referrals, etc.). We’ll also outline what to monitor, when to escalate changes, and how to request or confirm new orders with your physician/NP/PA.
